A NEW EMERGENCY IS LOOMING FOR ST MARK’S SQUARE: THE PROLIFERATION OF SEAGULLS

Never before like this year have seagulls filled the Square, and in considerably larger numbers. They have become a danger and, as businessmen in the Square have reported, are at times so invasive that they frighten children. They land on coffee tables, overturn everything and often attack and eat the pigeons, giving rise to a very unpleasant spectacle for those strolling through the most beautiful drawing room in the world. The Associazione Piazza San Marco has reported the dangerous presence of pigeons in the Square many times, but a new emergency now seems to loom on the horizon, that of seagulls. So it is necessary to find out whether there is some way of defending ourselves against this invasion and especially whether the public authorities are able to act before it becomes a real emergency. We will update you further on the subject in the next few days.
