EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS ON 20 AND 21 SEPTEMBER 2014

The 31st European Heritage Days will take place on 20 and 21 September 2014, an event conceived in 1991 by the European Council and the European Commission with the aim of reinforcing and encouraging cultural communication and exchange between European nations. The Soprintendenza per i Beni Architettonici e Paesaggistici di Venezia e Laguna will take part in the events, proposing a range of initiatives aimed at promotion and awareness by means of guided visits of some important Venetian building sites that are still open or have recently been completed and have produced studies and research. St Mark’s Square and the surrounding area will be directly involved on Saturday 20 September: at 11 am there will be a visit conducted by Annalisa Bristot ‘After the restoration: Homage to the hidden masterpieces in the Doge’s Palace chapel’, and at 4.30 pm there will be a visit conducted by Grazia Fumo ‘The protection of Venetian monuments during the first world war in the pictures of the Soprintendenza archive’. Compulsory bookings at 041-2710111.
