MAGICAL NIGHT IN ST MARK’S WITH THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS

It was a beautiful evening yesterday in St Mark’s Square, where more than 3000 athletes and technicians paraded during the opening ceremony for the Special Olympics 2014. The patriarch Francesco Moraglia, a choir of more than 220 members and over 200 dancers fervently welcomed the parade of teams taking part in the various sports. Great excitement not only for the athletes but also for the numerous volunteers and the public authorities at the arrival of the torch bearers in the square, who lit the Games tripod triggering the enthusiasm of the 5000 present. A wonderful moment for St Mark’s Square and the whole city.
