THE AMERIGO VESPUCCI ARRIVES IN ST MARK’S BASIN

Tomorrow, Tuesday 17 May 2016, the Amerigo Vespucci, considered the most beautiful sailing ship in the world, will moor in the Basin in front of St Mark’s Square. The Italian navy training ship came into the waters of the Gulf of Venice yesterday on its northern Adriatic cruise, which will continue the celebrations for its 85 years. The splendid ship, three masts with a steel hull, was launched in 1931 and can be visited from tomorrow until Friday 20 May. The public can also take part in cultural and charity events. The visit is a not to be missed occasion and it will be charming and evocative to see this sailing ship in St Mark’s Basin framed by the island of San Giorgio.
