THE CORRER MUSEUM IN ST MARK’S SQUARE WILL BE UPGRADED TO BECOME THE MUSEUM OF THE CITY

The director of the Fondazione Musei, Gabriella Belli, stated when taking part in the Venice city council’s culture commission that the Correr Museum, which faces onto St Mark’s Square, will have all its fittings completely renovated and become the museum of the city of Venice. The foundation’s scientific committee plans to completely rethink the museum in order to restore its character as a museum of Venetian life. A conference open to the city will be held in April and May to explain the works and find out what the city wants to do with its museum. The Correr also needs works to bring it into compliance with precise world standards and is without air-conditioning. Such works are also needed in order for it to host prestigious world cultural and artistic events.
