THE WATER AND THE SQUARE: A SPECIAL SECTION ON THE WE ARE HERE VENICE WEBSITE
On the We Are Here Venice website, an entire section is dedicated to the events promoted by the Venice delegation of FAI, the Association Piazza San Marco and We Are Here Venice itself, ‘L’Acqua e la Piazza. Dedicato a Francesco Valcanover’.
These are exhibitions, publications and meetings to tell the story of St Mark’s Square in the context of the Comune di Venezia’s Aqua Granda 1966-2016 project. The Olivetti shop located in the Procuratie Vecchie and the St Mark’s area are involved from 4 November 2016 to January 2017.
‘L’acqua e la Piazza’ is not a return to the dramatic days of the ‘aqua granda’, but a collective account of the relationship between the inhabitants, the water and the heart of Venice, St Mark’s Square. The project presents the square as an urban place, rich in values and significance, and links the life that unfolds around the St Mark’s area with its primary constituent elements: the water, the stones and its artistic heritage. The analysis of current life speaks rather of an area that suffers increasingly frequent high tides that demand reflections on its future.
The very dynamic website is an information point for all those wishing to be updated on the events surrounding this important occasion in which the Associazione Piazza San Marco is also playing a leading part.
