1.4 MILLION EUROS ARRIVING FOR THE MARCIANA LIBRARY
A state allocation of 1.4 million euros over three years will allow a series of works to be carried out at the Marciana Library (in photo). This financing will allow the fire protection system to be brought into compliance with regulations, restoration of the sixteenth-century wooden ceiling in the vestibule of the Marciana Library’s Sansoviana bookshop and activation of a programme to save the books from high tides. In addition, other important works are planned such as completing the restoration of the ‘Ridotti dei Procuratori’, which will soon become accessible and will expand the wedding routes in St Mark’s Square, along with the creation of a new teaching room created from some rooms in the Palazzo Reale. All important signs for the Marciana Library, which ended 2015 in growth, as announced in Il Gazzettino in an article by Elisa Lorenzini, with the purchase of a good 3578 books and an increase in users compared to 2014.
