Associazione received by the mayor Giorgio Orsoni

The president of the Associazione Piazza San Marco, Dr Alberto Nardi, and under-secretary Domenico Lalli, met the mayor of Venice Giorgio Orsoni today, with the councillor for trade and urban quality Carla Rey and the city council’s director general Marco Agostini. The reason for the meeting was to make an initial analysis and share reflections on the ‘San Marco Guardians’ project, which will end on 7 October. Those present judged it to have certainly been positive. Thanks to the male and female guardians themselves and the assistance of the local police, the general situation in St Mark’s Square has improved, with more attention being paid to the historical and monumental value of the Square, greater decorum and improved information for the tourists. President Nardi pointed out some aspects to be improved, especially the signage in the St Mark’s area, but also expressed the hope that this project will be repeated next year. A press conference was announced to make a final summing up of the initiative on Thursday 4 October at 11.30 am at the Caffè Florian.
