DOGE’S PALACE: NO DAMAGE TO THE WALLS OF THIS HISTORIC MONUMENT
The Fondazione Musei Civici, through its director Gabriella Belli (photo), has denied the accusations made in a statement by the Venetian historian Franco Rocchetta that some walls of the Doge’s Palace, which housed the successful Manet exhibition, were damaged during the preparation of this exhibition. The statement had been reported by various foreign newspapers, but was firmly rejected by the director Belli and the president of the foundation Walter Hartsarich, who pointed out that all the works, required specifically to bring the rooms into compliance with regulations as is the case with all exhibition venues around the world, were carried out in agreement with the Soprintendenza and with the assistance of a top grade restoration technician very familiar with the Doge’s Palace.
