Fifth Venice Challenge for maxi-yachts in the Bacino di San Marco
On Saturday 20 October the Bacino di San Marco will host the fifth ‘Venice Hospitality Challenge’ starting at 1.30 pm. This is one of the few sailing competitions that takes place on a city’s waterways, in this case those of the Venetian lagoon. It is a very striking spectacle that unfolds in an extraordinary setting that will attract many spectators to the waterfront of the most famous square in the world. This is not only a sports event but also one of lifestyle and a little high society. The competition, a genuine Venice City Gran Prix, will see the participation of twelve maxi-yachts linked to famous Veneto luxury hotels. The regatta is being promoted by the Venice Yacht Club, which has decided on this occasion to support the One Ocean Foundation, a project enthusiastically launched by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda to safeguard the seas and raise public awareness of marine ecosystem protection. This is a very important and highly topical ecological project, given the numerous world campaigns, for example, to protect the seas and oceans from the invasion of plastic.
