OPENING OF THE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION ‘VENICE IN THE SQUARE. SNAPSHOTS OF AN ITALIAN HISTORY 1866-2011’ ON 26 SEPTEMBER 2012

The photography exhibition ‘Venice in the Square. Snapshots of an Italian History 1866-2011’ will be opened on 26 September 2012 at 5.30 pm in the foyer of the Ospedale Fatebenefratelli, Venice. The exhibition, already shown last year at the Villa Hériot on the Giudecca to mark the 150th anniversary of Italian Unity, is part of the Festival della Citta Viva (Venice, 28 September - 7 October 2012), promoted by the ‘patto Città consapevole’. It is curated by the Venice city council’s communication archive and Iveser, and supported by the Associazione Piazza San Marco. Numerous photos from various important archives are being presented showing St Mark’s Square and Piazza Ferretto in the 19th and 20th centuries: two squares seen in their different civil and social uses that appear as places that belong to the community and symbols of an entire city. The exhibition will be open until 28 October 2012 from Monday to Sunday, 8 am to 8 pm. Foyer of the San Raffaele Archangelo hospital (Fatebenefratelli), Cannaregio 3458, Venice.
