ROCK RETURNS TO ST MARK’S SQUARE WITH THE CLOSE OF THE 2013 CARNIVAL

The Venice Carnival will end on the evening of Martedì Grasso with a rock concert in St Mark’s Square. The Carnival programme features the appearance of various Italian artists on the Gran Teatro stage in St Mark’s Square on 12 February. They include Roy Paci, Stef Burns (Vasco Rossi’s guitarist), Franco Li Causi ‘Frankie’ of the Negritas, Marco Castellani ‘Garrincha’ of the Vibrazioni, DJ Aladyn of Radio Deejay, Sasha Torrisi of the Timorias, Pier of the Velvets, Livio Magnini of the Bluvertigos, Vallanzaska, Movida and The Bastard Sons of Dionisio. The groups will play some pieces by Mario Riso, founder of the music and social project Rezophonic, and the proceeds will go to the Africa Medical and Research Foundation (Amref). So, music linked to solidarity, as Enrico Ladisa, marketing manager of the Hard Rock Cafe Venice and Piero Rosa Salva, president of Venezia Marketing & Eventi, pointed out when presenting the event: Italian rock in support of various projects in Africa directed mainly towards the fight against hunger and drought. It is thus an important event that we hope, given the type of music and some less than positive experiences in the past, will take place with the utmost respect for the venue.
