SAVE PIAZZA SAN MARCO

A call to the government to save Saint Marks Square. This time it’s an alliance that includes everyone: the mayor, entrepreneurs, citizen’s associations, it’s a dramatic appeal. There’s a financial gap of 50 milion of Euros for the realization of the most necessary works of restoration and conservation, especially of the pavement. Works would start immediately if the money arrived: the floor tiles (called “masegni”) could be restored, the broken historic underfloor water-conducts for the drainage of the rain-water would be repaired and the project of blinding the underground of the square in order to realize an impermeability against the high-tide waters (“acqua alta”) bubbling up from below. The project-plan has already been approved – but there’s no reply from Rome.
