ST MARK’S BELL TOWER MADE SAFE

There is no longer any scaffolding and not even the canopy that protected tourists leaving the bell tower. Furthermore, in two days climber-builders made the north and south walls of the bell tower safe, repairing the more decayed masonry. The builders also analysed the condition of the walls and mapped the individual bricks that are crumbling, of which, luckily, there are not very many. The data collected will now be analysed and a company specialising in this kind of work will propose the most suitable product for waterproofing the walls of the bell tower. So in about three weeks the climber-builders will once again let themselves down from the top of the monument to carry out a definitive operation of applying a fixative substance to all four walls of the bell tower.
