St Mark’s Square, the Guardians and... Clint Eastwood

St Mark’s Square continues to be the centre of media attention. The press, especially local, has in recent days been devoting numerous articles to the San Marco Guardians, who from 15 August are patrolling the square and surrounding areas. Very determined and also accompanied by the local police, the ‘angels of decorum’ are respected by the tourists while, at times, fines are also given for the more unruly guests. So far there have been only positive comments on the resumption of these controls in the St Mark’s area. They have also been reinforced due to the presence in the city of the famous actor and director Clint Eastwood (photo) who, based at the Hotel Gritti, yesterday filmed some scenes for his new film ‘The 15:17 to Paris’ in St Mark’s Square, under the Procuratie Vecchie, in the Basilica and at the Gran Caffè Quadri. Numerous people came to the square especially to see the great actor and director. It must be pointed out that Clint Eastwood, made famous by the films of Sergio Leone, filmed a mini ad for Venice and its protection at the request of the mayor Luigi Brugnaro, becoming a witness to the battle for the city’s decorum.
