THE ‘IL SERENISSIMO PRINCIPE, STORIA E STORIE DI DOGI E DOGARESSE’ EXHBITION AT THE DOGE’S PALACE

In a few days and until 30 June 2014, the exhibition entitled ‘Il Serenissimo Principe, Storia e Storie di Dogi e Dogaresse’ (The Most Serene Prince, History and Stories of Doges and Dogaressas) will be open in the Doge’s Apartment in the Doge’s Palace, Venice, organised by the Fondazione Musei Civici of Venice. The exhibition staged in these restored spaces is intended to describe the historic development of this world renowned symbol with paintings, illuminated codices, coins, medals and various classical signs of power, mostly from the Correr Museum. It is a stimulating display that, in addition to the representations of the various doges who became icons of the Serenissima, also gives room to the figures of the dogaressas and in particular to Morosina Morosini Grimani (1595-1605), making the exhibition even more original and interesting.
