THE GAZETTE ON THE PROBLEMS OF PROPRIETY IN THE CITY

The local newspaper, The Gazzettino, is reporting again today on the issue of propriety and neglect within the city with a full page in the local news. Photos show the negative impact of neglect present in areas close to Piazza San Marco and also, in a central photo, the important role of the "San Marco Guardians" with a hostess explaining the rules to a zone close to the Basilica of San Marco to tourists. The article, written by Maria Vettor Corsetti, and former city counsellor lawyer, Augusto Salvadori, asks for even more decisive action by the municipal administration with regard to propriety and degeneration in the city and also greater involvement from local citizens. An article by Pieralvise Zorzi stresses the need for real "action" whilst thanking "the Venetians who try to get involved," especially those who "instead of sticking up their noses and walking away, try to intervene, move, and explain with firmness and patience.
