THE NEXT VENICE MARATHON PRESENTED WITH LOTS OF SURPRISES AND ST MARK’S SQUARE ALWAYS AT ITS CENTRE

The Venice Marathon doubles! The new VM10KM was launched yesterday during a press conference at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mestre: the first non-competitive ten kilometre run in the history of the Venice Marathon, linked precisely to the 29th event to be held on 26 October 2014. The organisers of the Venice Marathon, who are already preparing big celebrations for the 30th anniversary next year, have decided from this year to grant the numerous requests made by middle distance runners, fitwalkers and non-competitive runners to offer the wider public a chance to experience the magic of the last ten kilometres of the Venice Marathon. The VM10KM will take place along the last ten kilometres of the race, from Parco San Giuliano in Mestre to the Riva Sette Martiri, between two wings of crowds, after having crossed the Grand Canal on the floating bridge of boats and passed through St Mark’s Square. This is an added reason for entering the 29th Venice Marathon and involving family members and friends, sharing the magic of the event with them. ‘This new ten kilometre run is a tribute to the wider public, to that portion of lovers of non-competitive movement and well-being who are the life blood of our movement’, said the president of the Venice Marathon Club, Piero Rosa Salva. ‘We are launching this event to respond to the many requests made by Italian and foreign athletes who want to enjoy the beauties of Venice but are not always competitive over 42 km, and to offer an even bigger crowd incredible thrills.’ A special and evocative event that will also see St Mark’s Square and its surrounds packed with thousands of athletes!
