Un'ombra de vin soto el campanil

The Associazione Piazza San Marco is glad to offer the inhabitants and friends of Venice a glass of wine, “ombra” in Venetian dialect, thus reviving the old custom of meeting in the shade of the Campanile to taste wine in the company of friends. It is quite a few years now that the Associazione Piazza San Marco has reintroduced this old custom as part of the celebrations for St. Mark’s, patron of the square and city of Venice, which fall on 25 April. According to a firmly-established tradition the men present their women with a rosebud, “boccolo” in Venetian dialect, on this very same day.
