VENICE CITY COUNCIL PRODUCES A CATALOGUE ON HOW TO TREAT THE CITY

By request of the counsellor for municipal trade, consumer protection and quality of life, Carla Rey, the City of Venice, in collaboration with the students from the technical school Algarotti, has launched the "Venice is also yours, respect it" - a catalogue of conduct for Venetians and tourists so they can comply with the rules of such a unique city. This catalogue features the city’s mascot Leo ( a winged lion) in 10 cartoons telling tourists not to soil monuments, to eat only in picnic areas, not to walk around the city in bathing suits, not to feed the pigeons, to keep to the right in the streets, not to stop on the bridges, to use the means of transport and walkways properly in the event of high water, not to buy products from illegal sellers, and to limit noise in the afternoon and after 11pm at night. The campaign includes 600 posters and 400 smaller posters in seven languages plus 1,500 leaflets with a map showing access to the city's main points: Vela and Actv and, not least, The San Marco Guardians, young people provided by the Association of Piazza San Marco.
