Zucchero “Sugar” Fornaciari in concert in July in St Mark’s Square
After seven years’ absence, the Venice city council has decided to bring pop-rock music back to St Mark’s Square. As explained in its press release, ‘on 3 and 4 July Zucchero “Sugar” Fornaciari (in photo) will be in concert in one of the most beautiful squares in the world with “The Best Live”. This is the announcement from the mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro who, after having agreed to a music festival in San Giuliano (Mestre) at the end of July, has made the St Mark’s area available for one of the most well known artists in the world for two evenings that will remain in the history of Italian light music’. Venice, a city just made ‘for harmony, grace and art’, so Zucchero, continues the article, ‘describes a city that has always been close to him and who is often seen wandering its calli. The artist also supports the #EnjoyRespectVenezia campaign, promoted by the Venice city council to encourage good behaviour by all hosts and visitors’. The event will take place on two week days and the cafes in the square, informed ahead by the council, as was the Associazione Piazza San Marco, may remain open for the concert. The stage that will host the artist will be set up and removed during the night so as to have as little impact as possible on the normal life of the square in the high summer season.
